(Paxton Record, Paxton, IL: Feb 8, 1923)

Mrs. W. C. Thompson received a telegram last Thursday night from Rowley, Iowa, which brought the sad news of the sudden death of her father, Mr. Miles Hand, which occurred at his home in that city. Mr and Mrs. Thompson, the latter's brother, Mr. Ray Hand, and Mr. P/A/ Clark a brother-in-law of the deceased left Paxton this afternoon for Iowa to attend the funeral.

The deceased has been in very good health, so far as the Paxton relatives have known and it will be remembered by our citizens that he was here for a lengthy visit last summer. He was a man of highest integrity and in his death the community has lost a valued citizen. Mr. Hand was a faithful member of the Methodist church. At the time of his death he was about 70 years of age.
