He was born in Huntington, W. Va. Mr. Lowe was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was the recipient of three Purple Hearts. He retired from GE Corporation and for the past ten years was a volunteer with the Departments of Juvenile Justice in Venice, Fla., and recently in Dunlap, Tenn. He had successfully motivated and touched the hearts of hundreds of troubled youths, who were called "Phi's Kids.'' He was an accomplished wood carving artist and won many awards and ribbons for his work.
Phil was preceded in death by daughter, Kristy Kay Lowe; his stepson, Philip B. Lowe; his mother and father, June and Basil Lowe; and sister, Phyllis J. Linger. Phil is survived by wife, Kathleen "Katie'' Lowe; stepsons, Rob (Susan) Zajack, Steve (Sherry) Zajack, Jeff Zajack; brother, Billy Joe (Astrid) Lowe; sisters, Janice (Dave) Heck, Cindy Kay (Henry JR) Kuhns; grandchildren, Cole, Kyle, Megan, Tessa, Lucy and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
