CHAFIN, William T., Jr. "Bill", of Largo passed away on Aug. 11 just days short of his 93rd birthday. He was born in Blountstown, FL, and even though he left Blountstown at age 18 to join the Marines he always at heart considered himself "just a country boy." He has gone to be with his beloved wife, Eva, who preceded him in death in 2007. They were married for 65 years but are now together for eternity. Bill served in the Marines for 25 years in active and reserve status. His WWII service included duty on Midway Island. Bill was a devoted father, husband, and lifelong member of the Southern Baptist Church. Bill is survived by his daughter, Cindy Wiggins; his son, David Chafin;and his grandchildren, Brian Wiggins, Chris Chafin, Robert MacGrogan, and John MacGrogan to celebrate and honor his long and good life. Bill was also preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Mary Kinsella, who tragically left us in March of this year after a seven-year battle against AML leukemia. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:45 am on Aug. 26 at Bay Pines National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Bay Pines V.A. Heathcare System Hospice Unit in memory of William Chafin. Reese Funeral Home
