Obituary from the LaPorte Herald Argus - February 17, 1947

Charles Levenhagen, 58, of 301 K Street, died suddenly at 10 o'clock Saturday night at his home. The son of William and Wilhelmina Schmidt Levenhagen, he was born in Chicago on Nov. 5, 1888, and had lived here since he was four years old, coming from Chicago. He had been employed at the U.S. Slicing Machine Company for 25 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth E., Gary, and Robert C., at home; one brother, William of LaPorte; four sisters, Mrs. P. H. Bowes of Chicago, Mrs. Augusta Salzwedel, Mrs. Garland Van Dusen, and Mrs. Minnie DeBow all of South Bend. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Giese and Kimball funeral home with the Rev. Mafred E. Reinke officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow at 4 p.m. and until the time of services.
