Mrs. C.E. Seely Formerly of This City Dies Sunday
Deceased Made Home in Motley; Finally Made Home in This City Few Years Ago
FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY
Deceased Took Prominent Part in Church and School Affairs at Motley

Mrs. C.E. Seely, long a resident Motley and well known to many Staples people, passed away at her home in that city last Sunday evening at 8:30. Death was caused by a heart attack which followed several days of illness. Mrs. Seely had been in poor health for some time and turned suddenly worse a few days before her death.
Lucy Cottingham was born in Lexington, Minnesota, on October 31, 1873, and was 57 years and 11 months old at the time of her passing. At the age of ten years, she moved with her parents to Wadena and lived there until 1893 when the family moved to Philbrook.
She was married to C.E. Seely at Philbrook in 1894 and lived at Hazeldell and Staples for a number of years following her marriage. The couple moved to Motley in 1904 and had made their home there since.
Mrs. Seely took an active part in church and school affairs and was very much interested in the good works of the community in which she lived. She was known as a kind neighbor, and a splendid mother and her passing is mourned by all who knew her.
Five children with their father survive, four daughters, Mrs. Lydia Smith of Boy River, Minn.; Mr.s Bernice Hemphill of Duluth; Mrs. Ruth Swecker of Motley and Miss Enola Seely, Motley. One son, Jennings, is living in Duluth. Also her mother, Mrs. Melissa Cottingham, of Motley.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church with Rev. E.F. Stidd officiating. Interment was made in the Evergreen cemetery in Motley.
