They had 8 children, 5 girls and 3 boys all were born in Creve Coeur, St Louis, Missouri. They are: William Hibler, Charity Hibler, Angeline "Ann" Hibler, Silas Hibler, Milton Hibler, Eliza Hibler, Mary Ann "Molly" Hibler, and Lucy Hibler.
Around 1849, a severe cholera, epidemic struck the St. Louis area. Nancy Jane, her three youngest children, 5 of her siblings, and her mother died during this time. They were burying so many people during this time that they may not have had time to place markers. Nancy Jane Fitzgerald Hibler, her children, her mother, and some of her siblings are probably buried in Hibler-Fitzgerald Cemetery, St. Louis County, Missouri. John Steitz Hibler and the surviving children moved to Gasconade County, possibly to get away from the epidemic. He is buried there and his second wife and most of their children.
