BESENDORF, EVELYN GAST, 80, of Louisville, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Twinbrook.

She was the former Evelyn Arbegust and taught for 30 years at St. Pius X and St. Barnabas schools. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and had degrees from Nazareth College and the University of Louisville.

She is survived by her husband, A. Joseph Besendorf; four daughters, Ginny Tambone (Vic), of Springfield, VA, Pam Seeley (Dwight), of Dublin, OH, Nancy Clay (Paul), and Barbara O'Connell (Daniel); a son, William Gast; her husband's children, Mary Wesley Mason (John), Philip J. Besendorf (Nona) and Andrew J. Besendorf (Amy); a brother, Charles R. Arbegust; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1105 S. Sixth St., with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Mass of the Air or Hosparus of Louisville.
