Andrew Jackson Gettings, 82, former resident of the Thompsonville community, died at 3:30 a.m. today at the Herrin Hospital where he had been critically ill since being removed from the Ernfelt nursing home, near Johnston City.
Gettings lived with his sister, Mrs Mae Jones near Thompsonville, before her death several months agao.
Surviving are two sons, Artie Gettings of Cave-in-Rock and Edward Gettings of St. Louis; a daughter, Mrs Ray Hunter of Detroit Mich.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Union Freewill Baptist Church, east of this city.
