Cornelia B. Alford, wife of W.J. Alford, died at Cropsey, Ill., Dec. 14, 1892, after a brief illness.

Mrs. Alford was born at Plattsburgh, N.Y., in the year 1824, being, when she died, sixty-eight years old. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Randall, and was the youngest of a large family of children. In the year 1839, she was married to W.J. Alford, of Plattsburgh, N.Y. She came with her husband to Illinois in the year 1852. They settled first in Kendall county, then in the year 1861, moved into the vicinity of Cropsey, McLean county, Illinois, where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was the mother of nine children, two of whom are dead. The remaining seven are Mrs. Hannah Skinner, Lucina Hayes of Francisville, Ind., Mrs. Emily Johnson, of Melvin, Ill., Messrs. Seth R., L.W., Allen, and George Alford, of Cropsey, and W.J. Alford, her husband, who still survive her.

She united with the M.E. church at ten years of age and for fifty-eight years has been a faithful and consistent Christian, a loving wife and mother, and a woman loved and admired by all her neighbors.
