Samuel Worley Beardsley was born October 5, 1857, in Indiana;, son of John Beardsley (1827-1900) and Delia Thompson (1831-1858).

On December 2, 1884 in Fannin County, Texas, Samuel first married Alice Thorpe, who was born in September 1858, in Indiana, daughter of Christopher Columbus Thorpe (1838-1911) and Mary Jane Myrtle Murray (1840-1926).

The 1900 Federal Census for Waco Ward 3, Texas (McLennan County) shows Samuel Beardsley, a railroad inspector, age 42, born October 1857 in Indiana; and his wife, Alice, age 41, born September 1858 in Indiana. The census shows that Samuel and Alice had been married 15 years. Living with them were their two children: Bessie Beardsley, age 15, born September 1886 in Texas; and George D. Beardsley, age 6, born April 1894 in Texas.

Alice died in June 1901 and was buried in McGregor Cemetery, McLennan County, Texas.

On July 5, 1902 in McLennan County, Texas, Samuel married Rachel Catherine 'Katie' Thorpe, the sister of his first wife. Katie was born January 4, 1874 in Lockhart Township, Indiana (Pike County), daughter of Christopher Columbus Thorpe (1838-1911) and Mary Jane Myrtle Murray (1840-1926).

Katie had previously been married to Charles Dewitt (1874-1895) and had one daughter, Claudia Dewitt by that marriage. Samuel and Katie ultimately would have four children together: Guy Benjamin Beardsley, born December 15, 1902 in Texas; Nira Beardsley, born circa 1906 in Texas; Pauline Beardsley, born May 5, 1912 in McLennan County, Texas; and Raymond Edward Beardsley, born September 26, 1914 in Texas.

The 1910 Federal Census for Waco Ward 5, Texas (McLennan County) shows S. W. Beardsley, a railroad car inspector, age 55, born in Indiana; and his wife, Katie Beardsley, age 36, born in Indiana. The census shows that Katie and Samuel were both on their second marriages, and that Katie had given birth thus far to three children. Living with them were five children: Bessie Beardsley, age 23; George Beardsley, age 16; Claudia A. Beardsley (Claudia Dewitt), age 15; Guy Beardsley, age 7; and Nira Beardsley, age 4; all born in Texas.

Samuel died September 14, 1923 and was buried in the Wheelock Cemetery in Millerton, Oklahoma (McCurtain County).

The 1930 Federal Census for Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Catherine Beardsley, a widow, age 54, born in Indiana. Living with her were two children: Pauline E., a telephone operator, age 17, born in Texas; and Raymond E., age 15, born in Texas.

The 1940 Federal Census for Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Catherine Beardsley, a widow, age 66, born in Indiana. Living with her were two children: Raymond E., an agriculture export clerk, age 25, born in Texas; and Pauline E., a beauty parlor operator, age 27, born in Texas.

Katie died November 13, 1940 in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) and was buried there in the Highland Cemetery.
