Ed Feltman Passes at Home Here on Sunday
Ed Feltman, a well known resident of Fort Benton community for the past 47 years, died at his ranch home Sunday morning after an illness of two weeks. Mr. Feltman was admired and respected by all who knew him. His passing will be mourned by relatives and a host of friends. His family has lost a loving husband and father.
He was born Aug. 29, 1874, in Etna, Missouri, where he spent his early life. In 1900 he married Amanda Campbell, also of Etna. They resided in Missouri until 1909 when they came to Fort Benton and ranched on the John Muir Missouri river ranch, the Lockwood ranch, and for several years in Pleasant Valley, moving from there to his present ranch north of the city, which he purchased in 1919.
Besides his wife he is survived by four children, Mrs. Leo Christiansen, of Fort Benton; Mrs. Nick Rebarchek, of Great Falls; Wallace E. Feltman, of Portland, Ore.; William D. Feltman, of Fort Benton; and fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Grover Dye, of Arebella, Missouri, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alta Feltman, of Fort Benton.
Mr. Feltman was preceded in death by a son, Milton Eugene, who died Dec. 15, 1925, a brother, Clarence, in 1955, and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Blatner, Missouri.
Mr. Feltman led a very active life and up until two weeks of his passing was working as he always did, early and late. He was a man who would gladly leave his own work to help a neighbor when called upon. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Granger, Missouri, for a number of years before coming to Montana.
Funeral services will be held at the Benton Funeral Home chapel Thursday at two p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
