ILLNESS ENDS FOR MRS. LENA BOWDEN

Friends were saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. Lena Bowden, 46, who passed away at the Oceana hospital in Hart on Christmas eve following an illness for a few days at the hospital.
Lena Freeland was born on Oct. 11, 1893, in Riverton township, Mason county, the daughter of a prominent family of pioneers in this section and had lived in this vicinity all of her life. She was united in marriage to Charles Bowden on Nov. 26, 1912, and at the time of her death she had been a resident of Weare township. Mrs. Bowden was a prominent member of the community and at the time of her passing had been a member of the school board of Weare district No. 2.
Those left to mourn her passing are the husband, four sons, Austin of Bay City, William of Fort Sheridan, Ill., Jack of Hart and Charles at home; three daughters, Mrs. June Dickensen of New Era and Arlene and Mary Lou at home; three brothers, Charles Freeland of Pentwater and Chauncey and Lloyd Freeland of Oregon and three sisters, Mrs. Lorraine Bowden of Ludington; Mrs. Dorothy Cady of Muskegon and Mrs. Ruth Aubrey of Onaway.
The body was taken to the E. F. Kent mortuary in Pentwater and it will be taken to the Bowden home today. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 27, at the Bethel Methodist church at Buck's Corners and burial will be made in the North Weare Cemetery.
