Mr. Edward P. "Pete" Levenhagen, 77, of 710 I St., LaPorte, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 1990, in LaPortre Hospital, following a bried illness. He was born Nov. 7, 1912, in LaPorte to August and Frieda (Eggebrecht) Levenhagen, and lived here all his life. Mr. Levenhagen was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church; LaPorte Old Timers Baseball Association; Hubner-Swanson VFW Post 1130; was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and owned and operated his own business for 35 years. On May 16, 1942, in LaPorte, he married Ruth Schultz, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Thomas, of Richardson, Texas, and David and Daniel, both of LaPorte; six grandchildren; one brother, Lorenz, of Plainfield, Ind., and several nieces and nephews. His parents, one sister and one brother preceded him in death. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Schoop officiating. Friends may call at the Essling Funeral Home Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church General Fund.
