He was born February 2, 1892 in Clay county where he spent his boyhood and married Miss Elsie F. Salmon on September 9, 1914 in Hamilton county. They made their first home on a farm near Stockham and established the present family home in 1925. Five children were born to this marriage.
Sharing his interest with a long and successful farming career, particularly in later years, was the development of an outstanding stamp collection, realization of a desire to know America through travel with Mrs. Ochsner, and music.
