Mrs. Hattie Vande Brake, 90, of Orange City, passed away Tuesday, December 27,1988, at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 31 at the American Reformed Church with the Rev. Marlin Vander Wilt officiating. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
Hattie was born April 28,1898, at Maurice, the daughter of Henry Hop and Artie Boone Hop.
On November 11, 1923, she married Pierce Vande Brake at Maurice. They farmed at Maurice until 1947, then they retired to Orange City. Mr. Vande Brake passed away June 19, 1957.
Since November of 1981, Mrs. Vande Brake has resided at the Heritage House. She was a member of the American Reformed Church of Orange City.
Survivors include her two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Shirley) Reilly of Sergeant Bluff; and Mrs. Marlen (Joyce) French of Waterbury, Nebraska; seven grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceeded in death by two grandsons and five brothers.
