Funeral Services were held Thursday morning in St. John's Catholic Church at Maria Stein for Frank Puthoff, aged 68 years and four months, who died Sunday evening in his residence in the neighboring village. Revered Holler intoned the requiem high mass, and interment was made in the church burial ground.
Mr. Puthoff, a lifelong resident of the Maria Stein community, had been in failing health for 14 months, suffering with a complication of diseases. Prior to death he received the last sacrament of the Catholic Church, of which he was a faithful member.
Born near Maria Stein on April 11, 1875, he was a son of the late Dietrich and Mary Mescher Puthoff. Early in life he took up farming and followed this pursuit in the community of his birth all during his active years. Eighteen years ago he retired and moved to the village.
Surviving is his widow, the former Miss Clara Brackman, whom he married in 1919. The couple's only child, a daughter, preceded her father in death.
