Ralph was the third child of Albert Kirsten Kreger and Doris Mae Fitt Kreger. In the early 1950's, they moved from Houston to Beaumont. He graduated from Beaumont High School in 1953. Soon afterwards, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served as an MP in the Alaska Territory.

He married Erline Clubb 22 Feb 1958 in Fannett, TX. They had 4 boys.

He went to work for Monsanto Chemicals at the Chocolate Bayou facility in Feb 1966. He and Erline moved the family to Liverpool in July 1967. He was a past chief of the Liverpool Fire Department, served as a coach for Tri-Bayou Little League Baseball and as equipment manager for the Alvin Packers, a Little League football team. He and Erline moved to Houston County, TX, in 2005.

Per his request, he was cremated and the ashes were scattered.
