James Mauldin WILSON married Lydia Remy in 1774 probably in Westmoreland Co, Virginia. During the Revolutionary War he was a "Patriot" in the Culpeper Co, Virginia Militia according to the Culpeper Classes: page 26 sec. 100 (this book is in the Virginia State Library). James & Lydia had seven children.
James and Lydia WILSON owned 213 acres near Oak Park, Madison Co, Virginia at the time of James's death in September 1797.
Part of this land was owned in 1950 by Miss Rowena Lacy, a member of the family who has owned the land since 1829. Her property lay between two churches and two cemeteries. After Lydia died in 1815, 106 acres of this farm were sold for $1,000.00 to Thomas BROWN in 1823.
