Betty Jo Sanders Allen passed away and was reunited with her husband of 68 years on Wednesday, August 10, 2011.

She was born on October 16, 1925 in Coolidge TX to Dwain and Adele Sanders. Betty spent her young life in Marlin, TX where she graduated from High school and met her husband, Bill. After high school she attended college in Waco TX. Bill and Betty were united in marriage on January 27, 1943.

After the birth of their first child, Mary, in 1950, they moved to Pecos TX where they farmed and then later owned the State Farm Insurance Agency. Betty was legal secretary to Judge J.M. Preston for 27 years. Their son, Bill, and daughter, Kim, were born in Pecos.

Betty was involved in many aspects of the Pecos community. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, the Pecos Legal Secretaries Association, and parent volunteer for all of their children's activities. She loved to sew, tole paint, and ceramics. Betty devoted tireless energy and enthusiasm to her family, friends, and community, all of which benefited from her efforts. She believed strongly in doing the right thing rather than the east thing and she passed that lesson on to her children.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Mary Caruth and husband, Jim Caruth of San Antonio TX, her son, Billy Allen and wife Wanda Allen of New Braunfels TX, and her daughter, Kim Poitevint and husband Duane Poitevint of Midland; grandchildren: Hilary Caruth Hamilton and husband Brian of San Antonio, Will Caruth and wife Sarah of San Antonio, Todd Collins and wife Debra of Colorado Springs CO, Kelly Coronado and husband Gene of San Antonio, Colin Gorman of New Braunfels, Garret Poitevint and wife Tandi of Midland, and Preston Poitevint of Midland.

Great grandchildren: Conway Hamilton, Adele Hamilton, Barrett Caruth, Caleb Collins, Noah Collins, Brandon Moran, Rain Moran, Justin Moran, Alex Cornado and Clayton Poitevint.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, parents Dwain and Adele Sanders, two brothers, Rod Sanders and Davy Sanders.

Visitation will be held in Midland on Friday, August 12, 4:00 to 6:00 at Nally-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in Marlin TX on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Adams Funeral Home with burial following at Calvary Cemetery in Marlin TX.
