Mrs. Johanna Arnold, 78, an invalid for five years, died Sunday morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clement Jahnke 623 St. Paul street west. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. James Catholic church, Rev. E. Geraghty celebrating the solemn mass of requiem. Rev. A. Cormier was deacon and Rev. Philip McGee, sub-deacon.
Burial was in Calvary cemetery. The pallbearers were four grandsons, John Jahnke, New Rockford, William and Walter Jahnke and Clarence Kopp, James Garvey and Ralph Hamm.
Relatives here for the funeral were a daughter and son, Mrs. John Jahnke, New Rockford, and, David Arnold, Esmond, and also three nephews, Joseph, Carl and Stanley Krencle, all of Esmond.
Mrs. Arnold was born in Germany in December, 1856, where her marriage to Philip Arnold occurred. They came to the United States about 45 years ago and settled near Bismarck. Later they farmed for many years near Esmond. Mrs. Arnold had been in ill health for a number of years and for the past five years had made her home with the Jahnke family.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. John Jahnke New Rockford, Mrs. Dolly Kopp and Mrs. Jahnke of' this city, one son, David of Esmond, and a sister, Mrs. Tillie Ternes, Lintion.
