Chick attended El Dorado Springs High School. After his marriage, he and Wilma moved to Nevada in 1952. He went to work at Foremost Dairy for several years and then was employed by the Missouri State Highway Department. He spent the remainder of his years being self-employed, dump trucking and raising cattle on their farm. Chick was a member of the First Christian Church of Nevada, MO, and the Masonic Lodge #292 of Lamar, MO.
In addition to his wife Wilma, Chick is survived by two sons, both of Nevada, Ken Shupe and his wife Alice, and Doug Shupe and his wife Lynne; three granddaughters, Jill Smith and her husband Brian, Nevada, MO; Ashley Forkner and her husband Nathan, Richards, MO, and Whitney Shupe, Nevada, MO; five great-grandchildren; Bronson and Adison Smith, Mason and Rhett Forkner, and Jackson Montgomery; one brother, John Shupe, Oklahoma City, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Wathena Clow and Pauline Franciso, and one brother, William Shupe.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011, at Moore Cemetery, Nevada, MO, with Rev. Hubert Fox officiating. Friends may call now and until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home and the family receives friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, August 11, 2011, at the funeral home.
