Sylacauga - Funeral service for LuAnn Lawrence Hughes, 51, will be Friday, August 12, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Joe Cosby and the Rev. Danny Courson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga. Visitation will be tonight, August 11, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Mrs. Hughes died Tuesday, August 9, 2011. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Lewis Denson and brother, David Denson. She was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Lincoln. Even after death, her love for people lives through her as a tissue donor. She was an accomplished musician, singer and song writer. She volunteered at various churches assisting with music programs. She died in Pensacola, Fla. from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. She is survived by her husband, Bill Hughes, of Sylacauga; sons, David Lawrence, wife Angie, of Sylacauga and Mike Simmons, wife Mandy, of Alex City; daughter, Sarah Lawrence, of Odenville; mother, Lucy Denson, of Anniston; step-daughters, Katie Hughes, Brooke Hughes and stepson, Chase Hughes, all of Sylacauga; sisters, Dr. Donna Lee, of Albertville, Deborah Edwards and Laura Deese, both of Anniston; grandchildren, Lexie Lawrence, Logan Lawrence, Asher Lawrence, Kyler Simmons, Autumn Simmons, Andrew Simmons and Brayden Hughes. Pallbearers will be Jason Gordon, Ray Knight, Justin Edwards, Robb Peoples, Keith Clements and Pete Grier. Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, will direct the services.
