Eleanor was born in Glendale, AZ to Stella and Conrad Wade and was the youngest of three children. Eleanor was married to Elmore Lawrence Crosby and they had two sons while living in California. Eleanor and Elmore Lawrence later divorced and Eleanor and sons continued to live in California. During the latter part of Eleanor's career, she was an Executive Secretary for the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.
