Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, Jun 7 2005 - Raymond W. Clifton, son of Albert Stewart and Floy (Blees) Clifton, was born in Kansas City April 8, 1919, and he died at his home in Clinton May 12, 2005, at the age of 86 years. He was married to Myrtle G. Martin April 6, 1939, in Liberty, and they were married for 66 years. He was in the Merchant Marines from 1941 to 1945. He was a firefighter for the Kansas City Fire Department before he retired in 1968. He then moved to Viola where he lived until moving to Clinton in 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Floy (Blees) Clifton; his stepfather William Baker; one brother Jack Clifton; one sister Roberta Clifton, and one granddaughter Kimberly Green. He is survived by his wife Myrtle Clifton of the home; two sons Micheal Clifton and wife Sharon, Harrisonville, and James Clifton and wife Mary, Kansas City; one daughter Michelle Green, Clinton; 11 grandsons, Leonard Green, Clinton, Steven Green, Kansas City, Chris Green and wife Belinda, Memphis, Tennessee, William Clifton and wife Lorena, Clinton, Eddie Clifton and wife Kelly, Gunn City, Richard Clifton and wife Penny, Clinton, Micheal Clifton and wife Leann, Washburn, Jason Clifton, Patrick Clifton, Aaron Clifton and Mackenzie Clifton, all of California, plus 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial services were held at Vansant-Mills Chapel Saturday, May 14. This was cremation with burial at a later date at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton.
