Bertha E. Black, 91, of Littlestown, died Tuesday July 21 at Manor Care Dallastown. Bertha was the widow of Robert Arter and Benjamin F. Black Sr. who died in 1976.Born June 22, 1924 in New Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Pinckey and Heildmay Hostler Gorsuch. She was a 1941 graduate of Westminster High School and worked in nursing.

She is survived by 2 grandsons, Richard A. Arter Jr. and wife Jane of Red Lion, Jacob Arter of York and step granddaughter Melissa Sheaffer of York. Great grandchildren Autum Arter, Austan Arter, Amberley Arter and Cameron Sheaffer. She was predeceased by sons David Arter and Richard A. Arter Sr. Sisters Catherine and Susana and brothers Albert, Daniel, and Robert.

Bertha was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster, the silver sneakers and club 2000. She enjoyed gardening and being with family.

Funeral service is Saturday July 25 at 11 AM at Little'’s Funeral Home, Littlestown, with Pastor Martha Clementson officiating. There will be a viewing 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery, Westminster MD. Contributions have been asked to go to her Church at 21 Carroll St., Westminster, MD 21157.
