Funeral services were held for Astri Roe Magneson at the First Lutheran church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. O.A. Langehough in charge of the services. Interment was in the First Lutheran cemetery.

Astri Roe Magneson was born December 25, 1857 in Gol, Hallingdal, Norway to Ole and Mari Roe. She emigrated to America with her parents, brothers and sisters, April 9, 1867 and arrived in Fillmore County, Minnesota on June 9th.

Following a year's stay there they mved to a farm west of St. Ansgar. This continued to be her home until her marriage in 1888 to Bottoff Magneson of near Stewartville, Minneosta. She was baptized in Norway and confirmed by Rev. C.L. Clausen October 5, 1872.

Her husband died in 1918. She continued to live on the farm until 1920 when she returned to St. Ansgar to care for her sister, Aline in her last ilness. She then made a home for her mother until her death in November of 1922.

In later years, Mrs. Magneson shared her home with her sister, Mrs. Tuff.

Astri was of the pioneer type, never relying on help from anyone else. She enjoyed good health and until the day before she passed away did all her own work.

She died at her home in St. Ansgar, March 11, 1948 after a short illness. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Marie Evans of Ulem, Minnesota and Mrs. Lena Tuff and several nieces and nephews.
