Degrass's name is in the 23rd O.V.I. section, the 1st column, the 4th name down on the south side of the Civil War soldier statue in Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Twp., Lorain County, Ohio.

Gravestone of Degrass Chapman, Company K, 23rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, wounded at the Battle of Antietam Maryland, Sept. 17, 1862; died of his wound(s), Sept. 21, 1862. This photo of his gravestone was taken Nov. 6, 2000 but not posted on his memorial until June 30, 2015.
