Ella Thomas (Ferguson) Averitt, 94, of Paducah, died Tuesday at Lourdes Hospital.

Ella was born July 26, 1917 in Golden Pond, KY to the late William Percy and Onnie Lee Ferguson. After moving to Paducah, Ella worked part time at Grant's, was cafeteria manager at Clark School and retired as cafeteria manager at Paducah Tilghman High School. She was a longtime member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Carl Ray Averitt, Jr. of Paducah and Dr. William Earl Averitt and wife Dr. Frances Lapp Averitt of Winchester, VA; a nephew, Lynn Ferguson and wife Wanda of Paducah; a step daughter-in-law, Necia Averitt of Paducah; and a step daughter, Judy Hall and husband David of Paducah.

Preceding her in death were her first husband, Carl Ray Averitt, Sr.; her second husband, Leland Averitt; a stepson, Herbert Averitt; two sisters, Thelma Jones and Alma Kloss; a brother, Jewell Ferguson; nephew, J.W. Jones; brothers in law, Boyd Jones and Rev. John Kloss; and sister in law, Mary Ferguson.

The family would like to give a well deserved and heartfelt thank you to Southgate Health Care Center, Lourdes Hospital, Lourdes Hospice and many loyal friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am Friday at Maplelawn Park Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Wallace officiating. There will be no visitation. Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
