In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Gillenwater.
He was retired with 30 years of service from Marathon Ashland Oil. Mike was a risk taking, thrill seeking daredevil who was happiest when golfing, hunting, fishing and camping with his kids.
He left to mourn and celebrate his life, his five children,
Michael Keith (Renea) Slayton,
Jennifer Burdette and her companion, Randall McCallister; Teresa Mercedes with whom he made his home; Vertia Slayton their mother;
Brandon Lee Slayton and
Brittany Slayton and their mother Tami Slayton.
He left behind fourteen grandchildren, Mercedes Branch, Genesis Mercedes, Moses Mercedes, Alliyah Burdette, McKenzee Burdette, Skylar McCallister, Benjamin McCallister, Michael Scott (Melanie) Slayton, Ryan Slayton, Ashley Smith, Joey Whitley, Aiden Agosti and Austin Slayton.
He is also survived by a brother, whom he truly loved and a sister-in-law, Gary and Beverly Slayton; four sisters, Kay Miller, Carolyn Gorman, Beverly Kelly and Donna Vickers and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral service was at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Truman Maynard and Mike's uncle, Sam (Louise) Adkins officiating. Burial in Spring Hill Cemetery.
