Brazilian Television Personality. Born José Abelardo Barbosa de Medeiros, in Surubim, Brazil, he was a popular Brazilian radio and TV comedian, known as “Chacrinha”. He began his career as a radio presenter, then due to his sense of humor he had great success as a host on many Brazilian TV networks shows from the 1950s to 1980s. He introduced many new artists on his TV programs, would interrupt the musical numbers being performed, while honking a horn, poking fun at guests and throwing fish into the audience. He died of cancer at age 70 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2009, Brazilian director Nélson Hoineff released the documentary film “Alô Alô Terezinha” , about the life of “Chacrinha”.
