Gilbert W. "Gib" Davis of Miami died Friday at the Integris Baptist Regional Health Center after a long illness. He was 86.

Davis was born Oct. 5, 1919, in Miami to Roy M. and Victoria May (Wallace) Davis. He was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from the Wyandotte High School with the Class of 1937. He also graduated from the Miami Business College.

Davis was a salesman for the former Commerce Sales, Oklahoma Tire and Supply Co., Millner-Berkey's Department Store and Wood Aire-Fireplaces.

He was a veteran of the Air Force serving in World War II, a Gideon and a member of the First Baptist Church in Miami.

He married Leah Kyte on June 5, 1949, in Miami. She survives, of the home. Additional survivors include a sister, Gilberta Patton of Miami: a niece, Cindi Major of Columbus, Kan., and two nephews, Brent Scoles of Joplin, Mo., and Bryan Scoles of Ada.

A funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Longcrier officiating. Burial will follow in the Seneca Cemetery under the direction of the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami. Pallbearers will be Willard Nixon, Bill Jones, Paul Williams, Kurt Major, Kyle Major and Dustin Major. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Gideons, Bill Jones' Sunday school class and Jerry Lee.
