Steven E. Ulm, 44, of Patoka, formerly of Noble, died at 2:07 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital emergency room.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Sandoval, with Father Chuck Tuttle officiating. Burial will be in Patoka Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday with a vigil prayer service at 8:45 p.m. and from 8-9:15 a.m. Monday at Day Funeral Home in Patoka.

Memorials can be made to the Patoka Fire and Ambulance Service.

Ulm was born Oct. 30, 1953, in Olney, the son of Robert B. and LaVern (Hasler) Ulm. He married Brenda S. Buerster May 11, 1974, in Wendelin.

He moved to Patoka in 1976 from Noble. He worked for Chicap Pipeline Company as a pipe line operator from 1976 to recently. He also was a fertilizer spreader for Woolsey Farm Service and Tune Trucking, both of Patoka. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Sandoval and was the assistant junior high basketball coach for the Patoka school district. He was a former Patoka village board member serving from 1987 to 1991. He also served on the Patoka Fire Department for over 10 years.

He is survived by his mother, of Noble; wife, of Patoka; two daughters, Stephanie Ulm and Courtney Ulm, both of Patoka; two brothers, Gary Ulm and his wife, Carolyn Ulm, of Noble, and Chuck Ulm and his wife, Mary Ann, of Noble; two brothers-in-law, Joe Buerster and his wife, Rose, of Noble, and Don Buerster and his wife, Donna, of Noble; and one sister-in-law, Diane Herdes and her husband, Dennis, of Noble.
