Miss Bridget McGough, a rural school teacher near Ackley, had her right arm broken when kicked by a horse while she was adjusting the harness.

Ackley World Journal, Dec. 6, 1923:

The death of Miss Bridget McGough, resident of this community and the home of her parents, in Grant township, occurred at the McGough home in this city last Thursday. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church Saturday, interment being made in the Catholic cemetery.

Bridget McGough died at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday at her home, after a lingering illness.

Bridget Teresa McGough was born on a farm in Franklin county October 17, 1877, and here lived until fifteen years ago, when the family became residents of this city.

Miss McGough taught for a number of years in the rural schools of Frankin county, where she made an enviable record as an educator. Her womanly traits of character made her well beloved by all who knew her. Four sisters and two brothers survive her. They are: Mary of Newcastle, Neb.; Francis, of Iowa Falls; Margaret, Nellie, John and Ed, all of Ackley.

The funeral was held from St. Mary s Catholic church at ten o'clock Friday morning, Father Buynski officiating.
