Willard served as a 2nd Lt., U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on March 5, 1941, prior to the war, in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a reporter and also as Single, without dependents.

Willard died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident during the war.

Second Lieutenant Blatz served with the 333rd Bomb Group, 468th Bomb Squadron as a pilot. He was one of six airmen killed when B-17F Flying Fortress #42-30905 crashed, eight
miles southwest of the Dalhart Army Air Base, Texas.
