Edith Iola Tadelski, 96, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at GRMC Klein Center, Burlington, Iowa. She was born August 29, 1914 at Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Ed and Olivia Edmonson Steury. Edith married Raymond Conrad Tadelski February 19, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. He died November 7, 1973.
Edith graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Missouri then completed nursing training at the Springfield Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, Missouri. She practiced nursing at Mercy Hospital in Burlington for 10 years and Burlington Medical Center for 25 years. Edith enjoyed her work as a nurse and also enjoyed cooking and canning. She was a member of SS John & Paul Catholic Church and a member of St. Teresa Little Flower Circle at St. Paul's.
Edith is survived by two daughters, Jane Tadelski of Burlington and Carol Horth of St. Louis, Missouri. One brother, Ralph (Dorothy) Steury of Calvert City, Kentucky and one sister, Ellen (Darrell) Carter of Fairgrove, Missouri. Three grandchildren, John Tadelski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Laura (Tommy) Mueller of Nevada, Missouri and Erin Horth of Columbia, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Paul Tadelski, three sisters, Georgia, Edna and Doris.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church Thursday morning, August 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Bruce DeRammelaere will be the celebrant. Special music will ve provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. The family will receive friends at the Church Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for St. Paul's Catholic Church and the National Alzheimer's Research.
