ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Our loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Curtis Leslie Pettit passed away August 6, 2011 of natural causes in St. George, Utah where he resided for several years. Curt, as everyone called him was born June 27, 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Edwin Leslie and Olive Ella Hannahs Pettit. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Curt married Doris Lorraine Winter on February 6, 1942 in Salt Lake City. That marriage was later solemnized on May 21, 1962 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He loved the outdoors, traveling, reading, fixing things that others had discarded and bringing them back to a useable condition. He loved working with his hands and building things. He was a hard worker all his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister, and brother. He is survived by his wife Doris Pettit; his four children: Launie (Lee) Johnson, Joan (Lee) Crain, Diane (Gary) Magnesen, and Kim Pettit; 19 grandchildren; and 44 great-granchildren.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.

Vistation will take place Thursday, August 11, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Pine View Mortuary, 566 North Mall Drive, St. George,Utah.
