Nancy went to be with her Lord and Savior at the tender age of 19. Her life on earth ended as a result of a snowmobile accident.

As a child, she was somewhat shy. However, through the loving guidance and encouragement of her parents and brother, her confidence grew and she blossomed into a beautiful, smart, and articulate young woman. Her beauty (both inner and outer) was readily apparent to everyone who met her. Her laughter and smile would light up a room.

In her sophomore year at Belvidere High School (Belvidere, IL), she was delighted to have been accepted to the cheerleading squad. While at Belvidere High School (BHS), she also participated as Vice-President of Z-Club (Zonta International Service Club-- a community service organization) and in German Club, Pep Club, GAA (Girls Athletic Association), Freshman Girls Chorus, Field Hockey Team, Christmas Committee, Prom Committee, Spirit Hall Committee, Mat Maids (School Wrestling Team Promotion), Ski Club, Cabaret, and Student Council.

Academically, she thrived and often made the honor roll. She was a member of the German Honor Society, which recognized her scholastic achievement in the German language. Nancy was a graduate of Belvidere High School, Class of 1977.

Nancy was a sophomore in the School of Business at Northern Illinois University (NIU) in DeKalb. While at NIU, she was also a member of the Delta Zeta sorority.

Nancy loved the Lord and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belvidere.

She was the daughter of the late Everett and June Nelson (Thelma June Nelson). She is survived by a brother, many relatives and friends.*

Nancy, in many ways, we will always mourn your passing and we miss you very dearly. But we are grateful that you were in our lives albeit for what seemed to be only a twinkling of an eye. Those of us who were privileged to have known you will be forever touched by your special brand of magic. Though we are saddened whenever we think of what could have been, we do not despair as we know that you are now in the loving presence of the Lord Jesus Christ and of your parents. We are further comforted that you will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever (from Psalms 23:6). The love we feel for you and all of those cherished memories of you shall never be extinguished from our minds.

In loving memory of:

Nancy June Nelson (1959-1978): beloved, incomparable, complex and irreplaceable daughter, sister and friend.
