Glen Ford, 93, of Conroe went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, in Houston, Texas. He was born September 20, 1917, in Jetmore, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marian and his parents John and Lillie Ford. He is survived by his sons: John Ford and his wife Bobbie of Delray Beach, FL; Vaughan Ford and his wife Jessilee of Houston; granddaughter Whitney and her husband Jay Platter - Zyberk of Waco; nephew Duane Goodman of Oregon and many relatives and friends. Glen received his master's degree in geology from the Univ. of Illinois, served our country during WWII as a Lieutenant with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater and worked as a geologist with Texaco until his retirement in the late 70's. Glen and Marian then moved from Midland, Texas to Willis and built a house on Lake Conroe at Corinthian Point and was a member of the Lake Conroe Association. There he enjoyed his favorite pastimes, sailing, fishing, and bird watching. He also loved music, reading, camping and photography — he developed his own photographs. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Conroe and attended Sunday School in the class, Brothers and Sisters in Christ. His community activities included a Life Member of the Conroe Lions Club and a volunteer with the Salvation Army. Glen will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and compassionate to all. Graveside services will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Mausoleum, Thursday, August 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations sent to the Alzheimer's Association of Houston, 2242 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030, or to the Salvation Army, PO Box 897, Conroe, 77305.
