Funeral services for William H. Hayes of Waterloo were held Monday at Sacred Heart Church at Waterloo. The Rt. Rev. E.J. O'Hagan, pastor of the church officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery in Ackley.
Mr. Hayes passed away Saturday at the Woodlawn convalescent home of complications of advanced age. He had been a patient at the home the past three weeks.
He was born October 17, 1867 at Ripon, Wisconsin to William and Margaret Schmidt Hayes. He lived most of his life near Ackley where he farmed northwest of town. In 1933 he moved to Waterloo and made his home with a sister, Mrs. Anna Bannon.
Mr. Hayes was a member of Sacred Heart Church and is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Anna Bannon, Mrs. Ella Roth of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Mary Megan of Kansas City, Kansas; one brother, Frank of Cedar Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
