Simeon was the son of Samuel and Eunice (Winter) Gould of Lisbon. He was one the nine Gould siblings who came from Saco to settle in Leeds.

The Leeds town history indicates that the first Goulds from Saco arrived in 1808, but Simeon, like his brothers, bought land here much earlier. Simeon bought land in 1800 from Elijah Livermore, located in the part of Livermore that was later annexed to Leeds.

Simeon married first to Jane Stuart, and by her had six known children born from the years 1794 to 1807. Although all these births were recorded in Leeds, some of these children were born in Saco. Jane died on November 15, 1809.

Simeon remarried to Abigail Stuart in 1810. They had one son, Ingraham. When Ingraham was less than a year old, Abigail died on November 19, 1911.

Simeon married a third time, in 1812, to Betsey Leadbetter. They had four known children.

The following story is from the Leeds town history, regarding Simeon's son Ingraham and his step-mother Betsey (Leadbetter) Gould:

“[Betsey] was said to be like some other step-mothers, unpleasant at times and cruel at other times. In retaliation, on a certain occasion Ingraham used a chair in self-defense and floored the old lady. This in a way, was a profitable feature in the life of the boy. His father gave him the remaining time of his minority after digging and removing stumps from a certain piece of land. So great was the sympathy for the boy, all the young men and the boys in the neighborhood turned out to help him with the work. Thus resulted his fight for liberty and freedom.”
