Ashley M. Spaulding, 87, of 10 McKinley Street, Keene, died Tuesday evening at the Cheshire Medical Center following a period of failing health.

He was born in Keene, May 23, 1924, the son of Earl and Mildred (Mecham) Spaulding and has resided in this area for most of his life. He was a graduate of Keene High School, class of 1942.

Mr. Spaulding retired from the Sprague & Carleton Company in Keene where he had been employed for many years. In his earlier years he had been employed in the field of tree service.

He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Keene. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and had participated in several bowling leagues through the years. He was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan and enjoyed following their seasons.

Survivors include his brother Earl Spaulding and his wife Bonnie of Keene along with a niece Wendy Snow and her husband Dave, a nephew David Spaulding and his partner Denise Cobb, and two great nieces Jillian Bishop and her husband Jason and Erica Heng and her husband Keo, and a great nephew Scott Cousino.

Services for Mr. Spaulding will be private. There are no public calling hours. Burial will take place at the family lot in the Nelson Village Cemetery Saturday July 16, 2011 at 10 AM.

It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made in memory of Mr. Spaulding to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446. The Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene is in charge of the arrangements.
