Marjorie Estes Brook, 98, of Sanford, died on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center in Dover, New Hampshire.

Marjorie was born on September 25, 1912 to the late George and Mabel (Quint) Estes in North Berwick where she grew up and attended local schools. During her working life Marjorie was a sales person at Hooz's Apparel Shop in Sanford. She was a member of the Bauneg Beg Grange where she participated in leading roles in their play productions for several years. She served as a president of the Springvale Woman's Club and drove vehicles for the Motor Corps, a Red Cross affiliate, during World War II. She was a member of the Sanford chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Clover Chapter #14 and led that organization while filling the position of Worthy Matron. She also served as Grand Warder for the State of Tennessee in the Maine Eastern Star Grand Family. Along with her husband, Will, she was a member and greeter for the Sanford Senior Citizens.

Marjorie enjoyed meeting and chatting with everyone she met. She was a friend immediately and was always aware of the needs other people. She enjoyed helping people and always strived to make life more pleasant for others. She maintained a positive attitude and tried to make the best of every situation. She will be remembered as a remarkable woman and will be dearly missed.

Marjorie was predeceased by her by her husband, Will Brook; three sisters, Phyllis Hutchins, Nancy Chadbourne and Alice Estes; two brothers, Lawrence Estes and George Estes and a grandson, Mark Cousens.

Marjorie is survived by two daughters, June Wescott of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Sandra Warner of Sanford; six grandchildren, Robert Wescott of Potomac, Maryland, William Wescott of Lynchburg, Virginia, Susan Wescott Browning of Lee, New Hampshire, Michael Cousens of Springvale, Ellen Wescott Hineman of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania and Tom Warner of Sanford and twelve great-grandchildren, Emily, Shawna, Ben, David, Jennifer, Nicholas, Ginny, Erika, Kelsey, Chase, Dustin and Mikayla.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 11th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 12th at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Sanford.
