Marie was born October 30, 1918 in Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of Charles R. and Elsie Davis Baker. She married John William Arment on October 27, 1940 in Knox City, MO. He preceded her in death July 31, 1989.
Marie was a graduate of Knox City High School and was employed at Ruff's Locker on Vermont Street for 25 years until her retirement in the 1970s. She was an active member of Central Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class, served as a Deaconess, was active with the Friends of Judson College, was co-chair of the Social Committee and was Secretary of the Sunday School. Marie also enjoyed gardening, canning, traveling, reading, and participating in her granddaughters' activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn (David) Brown of Quincy, IL, two granddaughters, Cindy Brown of Quincy, IL, and Jennifer (Andrew) Klingele, Springfield, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Charles W. Baker and an infant son, Charles.
Services under the direction of Hansen-Spear Funeral Home were held Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 9:30 am at Central Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ivan Greuter, with burial in the Knox City Cemetery, Knox City, MO.
Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church or Good Samaritan Home.
