George W. Brefeld Sr. of Round Lake Beach Funeral services for George W. Brefeld Sr., 72, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake. Born Sept. 9, 1931, in Wauconda, the son of George and Lillian Brefeld, he passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Interment will immediately follow the services in Woodlawn Cemetery, McHenry. George worked at Small's Garage in Ivanhoe for over 18 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved to snowmobile. He was a snowmobiling instructor for the State of Illinois for four years, a member of Meier's Fliers Snowmobile Club, and was the past president and sergeant-at-arms of the NIASC. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly (nee Brusso) Brefeld, whom he married Oct. 22, 1951; his children, Vickie (Robert) Raw, Lorel Basile, George W. (Diane) Brefeld Jr. and Scott (Cindy) Brefeld; his grandchildren Dominic and Ellana Basile, Kim, Greg and Shelby Brefeld and Matthew Raw; his sister, Joann Blue; and by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel.
