Virginia Lee Sawvel Pathkiller / Smith, age 87, was born 13 January 1928 in Grove, Oklahoma. Her parents were James and Hazel (Drake) Sawvel. Virginia died 2 June 2015 in Grove, Oklahoma, and had lived in the area all her life. She was first married to Warren Pathkiller who died in 1973 and lather to Carl Smith who died in 2000. Burial was on 5 June 2015.

Virginia Lee Pathkiller Smith age 87 of Miami, Oklahoma passed away, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Grand Lake Villa Rehabilitation Center in Grove, Oklahoma. She was born on January 13, 1928 in Grove, Oklahoma the daughter of James & Hazel (Drake) Sawvel.

She lived in the Miami/Picher area all her life. She was a former member of the Southeast Baptist Church of Miami and attended the Immanuel Baptist Church of Miami. She was united in marriage to Warren Pathkiller who preceded her in death in 1973. She then married Carl Smith and he preceded her in death in 2000.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Virginia Ann Pathkiller, 4 brothers, T.J. Sawvel, J.D. Sawvel, Charles Raymond Sawvel and Norman Sawvel, 2 sisters, Margaret Matlock and Barbara Crisler and a son-in-law, Marvin Champlin.

She is survived by 2 sons, Warren Dwight Pathkiller and his wife Sharon, of Afton, Oklahoma and Tom Mack Pathkiller, of Joplin, Missouri, 3 daughters, Margie Juanita Hayworth and her husband Gilbert, of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Joyce Ginger Champlin, of Joplin, Missouri and Mary Lou Schenk and her husband Don, of Joplin, Missouri. Also surviving are 3 brothers, Elmo Sawvel, of Grants Pass, Oregon, Joe Ted Sawvel, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jim J. Sawvel, of Grove, Oklahoma, 1 sister, Juanita Maxine Woodhouse, of the State of Oregon, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Virginia Lee Pathkiller Smith will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, in Miami, with Rev. Ken Ferris & Rev. Jackie Crafton, officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be held following the services at Saratoga Springs Cemetery in Southwest City, Missouri. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Miami.
