MECHANICSVILLE, Iowa — Funeral services for Hazel Roena Carr Blake, 101, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Tipton, Iowa, who died Tuesday, January 24, 2012, will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mechanicsville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville. Hazel was born on October 9, 1910, in rural Cedar County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Melvin and Iona Lahmon Carr. She attended rural Cedar County Schools while growing up. Hazel was united in marriage to Edwin John Blake on February 25, 1933, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mechanicsville. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Mary Ellen (Ronald) Ford of Loveland, Colorado, and Carolyn (John) Cook of Tipton; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edwin Blake, on March 13, 2007, sisters, Wretha Clippinger and Sylvia Carr, and brothers, Harold and John Carr
