Celia Dana Preston

Celia Dana, wife of Willis R. Preston, passed away at her home in this village at 9.20 o'clock Sunday evening after an illness of only a few hours, the cause of death being apoplexy. She had been as well as usual until Sunday afternoon when she began to feel ill and to complain of a severe headache. Her condition grew steadily worse until the end came. Everything possible was done to relileve her but to no avail.
Deceased was the daughter of Giles and Sarah Somers Dana and was born in the town of Decatur on Dec. 22, 1857. She was united in marriage to Mr. Preston on January 7, 1878, and with the exception of one year spent in Afton, they have resided in this town ever since. Mrs. Preston was a woman of fine character, upright and greatly beloved by all who knew her.
Surviving are her husband, one sister, Mrs. Fred Hanor of this town, and one brother, Orville G. Dana, of Chazy, N.Y. The funeral will be held from her late home at 2 o'clock this Wednesday afternoon and owing to the serious illness of Mr. Preston's mother, will be private. The remains will be laid at rest in Maple Grove cemetery.
