U.S. Congressman. Educated at Lawrence University, he moved to Indiana, was editor-publisher of the Winamac Republican (1899-1910) and secretary of the Indiana Republican State central committee (1906-08). Relocating to Montana, he engaged in wheat and cattle ranching (1910-18) and was county assessor of Fergus County (1915-18). In 1919, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth and Sixty-seventh Congresses, serving until 1923. Not seeking reelection, he owned and operated a home development at Sylvan Shores, Maryland. In later years he lived in retirement in Florida, until his death.
