Robert Howard Myrick, retired co-owner of Economy Supply Company, died on August 6, 2011, at the age of 81. Mr. Myrick was preceded in death by his parents Grady C. and Blanche Evans Myrick and his wife, Alice Hunt Myrick. Survivors include: brother, Lewis (Margie) Myrick, Sr.; children, Bobby (Debi) Myrick and Michael (Misty) Myrick of Hattiesburg, Marcia Myrick of Charlotte, NC, and Bill (Lisa) Myrick of Birmingham, AL; wife, Rosemary Puckett Myrick; step-children: Richie (Sidney) Malone, Lee Ann (Mike) James, Randa (Harley) Fischer, and Andy (Brandi) Elkins; 16 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Mr. Myrick attended (USM) Demonstration School, Hattiesburg High School and USM. He served his country in the U.S. Army before starting his work at the building materials business. Howard retired from Economy Supply in 1989.

Through the years Howard was active in civic, professional and charitable organizations, serving on the Hattiesburg City School Board and the Selective Service Board. He served as Elder in Grace Temple Church for 30 years, and he was a long-time supporter of Christian Services and many other charities. His love for music developed as he played trombone in the HHS, USM and Army Post Band and dance bands as a young man. Howard enjoyed baseball, fishing, working on his farm in Perry County and living in Timberton.

In lieu of flowers, please consider the American Cancer Society , American Diabetes Association or Grace Temple Church. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 805 Hardy Street. Funeral service will be 11:30 on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Grace Temple Church, 1131 Richburg Road, Hattiesburg.
