She was born Feb. 6, 1922, to the late Ella Zane Calhoon. Helen was the first of four generations of the Rogers family to attend Mark Twain Elementary School. She graduated from Carthage High School. During World War II, Helen was employed at Camp Crowder in Neosho, Mo.
Helen married Parker O. Rogers on Aug. 16, 1942. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before his death on Feb. 10, 2007. Three children were born to this marriage.
Helen was secretary and treasurer of the family businesses, Rogers Office Products, M.C. Jackson Printing Co., and the Ben Franklin stores. She was a communicant of Grace Episcopal Church, and was a charter member of the Broadview County Club. She was also a member of the Tri-Cosmos, Thursday Club, Carthage Council of the Arts and Musical Devotees.
She is survived by her three children, Harry O. Rogers and wife, Cindy, Carthage, Ann Balfour and husband, Doug, Green Bay, Wis., and Charles Rogers and partner, Chet, Carthage; two grandsons and their wives, Sam and Allison Rogers, and Chris and Tracy Rogers; and by four great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ben, Abby, and Emme, all of Carthage.
Funeral services for Helen M. Rogers will be Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. in the Grace Episcopal Church, with Father Steve Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage.
Arrangements are under direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
Friends may stop by the home of Harry and Cindy Rogers, located at 1350 South Main, Carthage.
